Afifi’s Birthday Fund Raiser for NGO and Charities

For my upcoming birthday, I would like to help to raise fund for various NGO and charity organizations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I feel that it is part of my conscience to try the best that I can to help the community around me. So I need your help as well so that together, we can help those in need and provide better lives. These are the NGO and charities that I have selected based on my personal preference and had previous experience with, together with the percentage of breakdown to be contributed to each of them:

(1) Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) is a non-religious NGO based in Malaysia, committed to confronting and ending violence against women. WAO provides shelter and counseling for women nationwide and also advocates for women’s rights as human rights. - 20%

(2) Ideas Academy provides secondary education to refugees, stateless and undocumented children in their learning centre in Pudu. Most of these children do not have documents, and therefore cannot go to regular schools. Started in September 2014 with the first class of 24 students, the school now has over 156 students and a growing waiting list - 30%

(3) TFM’s vision is to ensure that one day, all children in Malaysia will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Through the Fellowship Programme Fellows are placed in high-need schools across Malaysia. For two years, they create impact in their classrooms and develop themselves as leaders. Monthly donations help Teach For Malaysia keep its fundraising costs low while generating steady cash flow for their operations. - 30%

(4) UNICEF makes sure more of the world’s children are fed, vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws, policies and customs to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.
