About Me

I am a 24 year old Barbadian resident. At the age of 3 I was separated from my mother as she was deemed unfit to care for my 3 sisters and I. I was separated from them by the state and spent my teenage years moving between homes after my relationship with my initial foster parent soured when her husband at the time left us to go on a trip overseas and never returned. He had known me from before I was born and took over the role of my father figure in place of my absentee biological father and it scarred both my foster parent and I when he left.

I have since graduated from Harrison College with 6 C.X.Cs and in my years since leaving school I have been involved in many online projects including freelance editing and transcription, scripting, server management, forum management, online customer support, social community management, website creation and website maintenance where I gained numerous skills and experience in those areas. I have always had a love for computers and technology from young and I would often get into trouble for skipping school so that I can go to the library and have access to the internet.

While this was not ideal, I was not wasting my time as I was able to immerse myself in a world I would have otherwise not have had access to and gain experience that I was not able to learn by going to school. One skill of interest in particular that I have picked up over the years, is having the ability to find resources and match them together to create custom solutions to match my wants and needs without spending a lot money as I have always been lacking funds.

This was usually achieved by taking free software that each performed a specific task and combining them to achieve the same effects as premium software. At the start this process was confusing and complicated, however over time I've been able to build a library of resources and access to many communities where others of similar mindsets share their knowledge.

Thank to the unconventional way in which I have gained my knowledge, businesses are not willing to hire me within the field that I love working in as I do not have any college certificates. The few tech related jobs that I've had have all been paying less than $4 USD per hour, which leaves me with next to nothing when the cost of transport and food is taken into account.

During the past year I have been homeless after having lost my previous job, during this time I've decided to take a different approach and create a job for myself that allows me to work in an area that I love and grants me control over how much I'm paid. My focus has not only been how can I start a business to make a profit, but how can I do it in a way that can also help those in a similar situation, and this has led to the creation of https://cloud-server.host.

About My Idea

My long term goal is to create a community where technical professionals can connect directly with customers. I want to provide a platform centered around automation that will identify a customer's technical needs and link them directly with the correct professional to get their tasks done, and this will start with local website creators and businesses.

Currently local businesses are realizing the importance of having a digital presence, especially since the global shutdown, however it can be expensive and overly time consuming for local residents and businesses to have websites created and maintained. A process that after consulting with partnered web designers who'm I surveyed about the prices for projects they currently work on, costs from $500 USD for simpler projects to high into the thousands for complex projects.

There are solutions available such as WIX and Weebly which allow a user that has basic computer knowledge to create websites with drag and drop builders, however this still requires that users have some level of technical knowledge which can be a barrier for older users and those who aren't tech savvy. Even for those who have some knowledge, configuring the plugins needed for a website's back end can require advanced technical knowledge and bar them from creating a website that functions they way the want it to.

Another problem is that those that don't have technical knowledge may not be able to identify what type of website they need, and the plugins needed for the functions that they require, this can lead to increased costs and wasted time during the creation process.

I have developed a model centered around automation, which will significantly reduce the cost of website creation and maintenance for customers, and reduce the time and effort needed to carry out the process for developers and designers. With my model, we will able to create websites for as little as $125 USD for simpler ones, and up to $1500 USD for more complex websites, and offer management services starting from $25 USD per month. significantly cheaper than other alternatives at the moment.

This project has been in development since June and so far I have been focused on setting up and testing servers to ensure sure that they are fully functional, operate as required and are secure. During this period I've used up all of the funds that I've had available to cover the cost of server acquisition, testing and software. Minus some very important software licenses for automation and security, I am now only a few days work away from being able to being offer our services and products to customers.

What your money will be used for.

The donations that you provide will be used to conduct 3 tasks, obtaining needed software licenses, cover 2 months of our initial maintenance costs and, developing, and fine tuning my business' model.

There are some very important software licenses that I need to acquire before I can provide services to customers. Despite my ability to source cheap or free alternatives, there are important areas where costs cannot be cut and one of these is security. In order to safeguard our customers' websites we require having access to enterprise grade virus protection and encryption services. Other licenses that we require are related to the back end automation of tasks, This software is important because it allows me to have certain tasks automated, reducing the time spent on tasks such as initial app installations and maintenance and allows my partnered developers and designers to focus on building a professional website.

Having the funding to cover our initial 2 months of maintenance will allow us to focus on spending this time to start linking with customers and accepting projects.

As this is the first production implementation of my model, there are still many areas that have to be optimized and improved, a part of your donations will go towards keeping cash on hand to cover any unexpected costs that we may have during this process.
