Aerys was prematurely born due to complex situation that triggered life and death status for both the mother and baby.
He's under observation here at Cardinal Santos Medical Center. Currently intubated to help his lungs function as needed.
As her mom, who was diagnosed with a congestive heart failure during pregnancy, which later on identified as Ventricular Septal Defect, Aerys made his way out so somehow save my life and fight for his own outside my womb.
We appreciate all support through awareness and donations to help us raise funds for Aerys medical expenses.
He's tolerating 30 ml of breast milk via cup every 2 hours. So far all vital signs are stable and he has good bowel movement and urine output.
Ophtha checked on his eyes yesterday and noted a subconjunctival hemorrhage daw. They're not sure where it came from but said that it's nothing to worry about and it will resolve by itself within 2-3 weeks.
If everything goes well, we may be able to discharge him by next week.
We will continue giving breast milk for as long as it is available, but once we run out of stocks and you can't express as much, we will supplement na lang with a preterm milk formula.
Hi mommy Cristina. Update on Baby Aerys - tolerated room air, 20 ml feeds via OGT every 3 hours and transferred to bassinet na today. He's beginning to suck already but since he's less than 34 weeks corrected age, I think di pa i-allow to suck kasi baka mapagod especially dahil may cardiac problem siya.
He's also maintained on Furosemide for now to prevent heart failure from fluid overload.
Naka-phototherapy pa din coz the bilirubin remains to be elevated for his age.
Referred to Dr. Abes-Servera (pedia ophtha) for retinopathy of prematurity screening and to Dr. Grasparil (pedia radiologist) for cranial ultrasound.
Will update you again once with results.
Let's pray we won't need to transfer na. Aerys' progress is very good. Halos grower na lang siya. He might get an infection pa from other institutions eh. Let's continue to pray and hope for the best.
