My name is Lisa. I am a mother of three wonderful boys and a girl. Our oldest son is 23 years old and is passionately involved in Flying and Engineering so he will be studying Aerospace Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada. He would love nothing more than to be able to pursue this dream goal of his. Ever since he was a child he has been very dedicated to being the best Aerospace Engineer he can be. My son is autistic, he has a form of autism known as PDD. While he is a straight A student and never misses a spelling word he struggles socially. It has been very hard for him to connect with his peers. He has unfortunately been the target of bullying at school and in our own neighborhood. Flying and Engineering is where his mind is. Since joining the University of Hertfordshire to study Aerospace Engineering with Space Technology he no longer expresses feelings of being alone or that he has no friends and his self confidence is through the roof! He’s finally found the confidence to say leave me alone or to find an adult to help when dealing with bullies. Autistics tend to struggle with muscle tone and coordination and mind engineering helps tremendously in these areas. The change in my child has been almost unbelievable thanks to his flying courses at the University and the supportive instructors and students. The course is a four year programme. We have paid to register him for the next fall academic session however, the tuition is very high. I am hoping friends, family and the larger community can raise enough to make this dream come true for him. Thank you all so much for your time and consideration!
