Adventure Outfitters

Story

Looking to open a outdoors adventure outfitters business located on the water between Ottawa, ON and Montreal QC. Location is chosen but not confirmed therefore not yet advertised. Business will cater to local communities and bring much needed tourism and therefore profit for local businesses and economy. It will also allow for resident of the communities to enjoy what the region has to offer and take full advantage of nature around the area. We also plan to cater to schools and students by offering student pricing and organized groups. Summer camps will also be welcomed. We did business analysis and research around the area and compared it to similar business models in the area. We have come up to a Startup cost of 30K for everything that is needed to operate and succeed for our first year. We are looking to crowdfund $10,000.

Owner/Founder

Alain was in law enforcement for 19 years. Following a severe burnout mixed with PTSD and some good old insomnia, he decided it was time for a new start and retired early. Alain had decided on that career specifically to help people. Now that he has a chance to do it all over again, he decided to help people once more, but more in a hands-on approach that can benefit everyone in the surrounding communities.

Goal

We hope to support the local community, as well as help residents stay fit and in touch with nature. These activities are perfect to reduce stress, anxiety, and assist in overall mental health by disconnecting from technology and connecting with nature. They also promote physical health by strengthening muscles, improving cardiovascular health, refine balance, and enhance endurance, thus building a stronger community. We will also have to hire employees which will also benefit the local economy and communities. We are also preparing leadership and confidence building exercises for people of all ages, but specifically aimed at kids and teenagers. Our staff will also assist and support the preservation of local wildlife, undeveloped and protected areas, as well as help maintain the local waterways.

Organization

A business plan has already been completed. The financial forecast of the revenue, expenses and profit has been completed for the next 3 years. Business licence will be requested shortly. The webpage will be completed 3 months before opening by Alain who has experience in web building. The operation of the business will be required one to two employees plus Alain (working full-time). Employees will be hired for the 2020 summer months. A business bank account will be open once the funds are secured from crowdfunding. Any funds missing will be borrowed from friends and family (ideally), an angel investor (preferably) or a bank (nooooo!!!!). An accountant who was used in the previous business has been secured to assist in the project. Legal advice and paperwork will be provided by a law firm also used in the past. The business will be operating under the Modern Warriors Inc. Corporation. Liability insurance will be obtained prior to starting operations.

Experience

Alain has several years of experience in training and teaching. He has years of experience in project management and coordination, and special events. He is also trained in personal training Level 1. Alain is certified in Fast Rescue Craft Operator with the Canadian Cost Guard. He has the following background in water related activities and experience: patrol with Canadian Cost Guard, Canadian Transport and Ocean and Fisheries (3 years), Boating (20 years), Kayaking 10 years, Canoeing, Rafting, Advanced Open-Water Scuba Diver (20 years), Snorkeling and Emergency Response (19 years). Alain has been certified in First Aid, CPR and Defibrillator. Alain has also operated a side business from 2016-2019 and learned all the intricacies of owning and operating a business (taxes, finances, accounting, advertising, marketing, social media A/M, and web building). The business was closed on Sept. 1^st to focus on this new full-time endeavor.

Use of Funds

The funds will be used to purchase the right number of kayaks, canoes, paddles boards, snowshoes and related equipment for a rental and outfitter business. Nothing fancy, nothing drastic, just what is needed to succeed and have a solid business. The reason we are crowdfunding now is because there are great deals during the fall season. The winter months will be used to finalize the last remaining items discussed above.
