With Covid19 taking its toll on the world, my father-in-law was no exception. Travel restrictions have prevented him from travelling back to Madagascar where he was working, and without him and his team in the area to help create jobs and supply work to the locals, the effect is devastating, not only for him but also the people in the villages that depend on him for their jobs and lively hoods. With all his money and energy invested in helping to rebuild and regenerate Madagascar and Covid-19 travel restrictions keeping him stuck in South Africa, he has been forced to move in with his 84 year old mother, and rely on the financial support of family members to survive.
Now without an income, or start up capital to start a new business venture in South Africa while awaiting the travel bans to lift, and with his age against him when it comes to borrowing money for capital, he has been looking for alternate ways to make money in a digital world that he doesn't know much about. Never one to give up, he spent some long hard time during lockdown thinking and brainstorming for a solution.
A YouTube channel where my father-in-law ticks off items on his bucket list, (some crazy and some not so crazy). Shares the knowledge he has accumulated over his lifetime, giving free tutorials and plans on a multitude of DIY projects. Along with a multitude of other positive uplifting ways he can give back.
As he is almost at retirement age this gives him the opportunity to devote the rest of his life to helping others, while earning an income to recoup the life savings he has lost, all the while entertaining and uplifting those he comes into contact with both in the real world as well as the digital world.
