Africa Intercultural Development Support Trust [AIDEST], we're a charity and non-governmental organization which is an initiative of community efforts for empowerment and social development targeting disadvantaged and vulnerable young women and children, and elderly persons, women living with HIV&AIDS as well as persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Since its founding, the organization is at the forefront of innovative ideas, ventures and approaches in education, community empowerment, the development of agro-investment initiatives targeting women in rural areas.

Our Mission is to give Ugandan young women and girls in rural areas a better future by providing easily accessible training in locally applicable practical skills and consecutive career guidance, while integrating the importance of a strong community.

The issue we seek to address here is the high level of illiteracy among women in rural Uganda and how this continues to place women in a permanent position of disadvantage and discrimination. Because they cannot read and write, they cannot access or compete in employment of supply contracts, they miss out on media correspondence of issues of community development and social programs, and they become hard to reach.
