Did you know? It was estimated that worldwide digital advertising expenditure on 2018 was 283 billions U.S dollars and it will further grow to 517 billions in 2023.
Myname is Albert Kwamena Kurentsir from Ghana. I graduated from university in 2017 with a bachelors in Economics and Mathematics. I have the capacity and will to join the workforce but such an opportunity had eluded me for the past thirty-four (34) months. In 2015, the government sought an IMF bailout and hence a freeze was put on public sector employment. This meant graduates who were being churned from the universities even though had employable skills the country needed still couldn’t be hired because of bailout conditionalities. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-31652406 This has been the plight of my colleagues and I till this day as we still seek employment opportunities with negligible success.
In 2019, reports from the government suggested that the unemployment statistics stood at 6.78%. This is a report that didn’t reflect the reality of our lives and left us wondering where the data collected and analyzed to arrive at these conclusions were obtained from. Unemployment was and remains a topical issue among graduated and students alike as opportunities seem to be a distant dream.
If the current economic situation of the youth is anything to go by, then the future isn’t one to be hopeful for. Poverty has been proven to be a major reason why social vices abound, hence the need for individuals like myself to seek new opportunities and ideas that will save us and our friends while helping lift our respective families out of poverty.
I set out on an entrepreneurial journey after graduation and sought to start a multimedia company, Legendary Initiatives. It failed after my savings from university dried up and there wasn’t any other help to sustain it. A colleague offered to give me tuition in forex trading so that I can raise capital to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams. After months of training and trading with a demo account, I went live but once again inability to raise enough capital because I have been breaking even since I started my forex trading journey. Trading forex is risky than I thought.
