Every season, each player is responsible for raising approximately $1,500 toward the estimated $100,000 that is necessary to fund our entire season. Our most costly expenses include practices field rentals with lights (2-3 times a week), 4 game day expenses, and travel to 4 away games which includes buses/hotels/gas only when traveling on your own. This year the Sharks got a great opportunity to work with Velocity Sports Performance which will also have come out our pockets ($600/ $120 per month); all participants HAVE to dedicate 9 months (3x a week starting October 19st till after our 2014 season is done in July. In March 2014 we will be at Phase 6 which I love and would like to continue to train through throughout my last year playing with the New York Sharks.
Basically, we PAY to PLAY and in order for me to continue to be on top of my game http://youtu.be/Zb6TMDyy5wU (Black Nasty the Real Deal) my highlights video; I have to make a lot of sacrifices to be the best. To most, they might think this is just a non-paying hobby but to me being 38 years old, game day I AM 25 and after the next morning to feel like I am 107 years old are worth the time and priceless to me. With all these opportunities opening for the Sharks, the only thing that can take it away is not having the funds. My fees and off-season velocity training is more than I'm asking for. 2014 is not about the haters but for playing in the memory of my dad who passed away July 25th. This year our Championship will be July 26th. finally Poppy (my dad) can see me play while rocking my signed jersey from teammates and I cremated him with. There's no room for failure, no excuses but its go hard or go home! G.A.T.A.
