FAQ:

Why adopt an agricultural drone? What is the Adopt 1 Drone Project about?

Due to the lack of modern plant protection, which is either unavailable or difficult to obtain, thousands of family farms in Vietnam and many more in Southeast Asia and India cease to exist every day. The Southeast Asian and Indian program, Adopt 1 Drone’s initial venture, is in Vietnam.

Every year, one agricultural drone can assist up to 2,000 family farms. Around 40,000 to 60,000 people working on those farms will not lose their jobs; they won’t emigrate to big cities to find work, families won’t break up, and tragedies will not occur. True tragedies, indeed. When their farms fail, bankrupt farmers in India frequently commit suicide.

Why join us now by supporting the Adopt 1 Drone Project?

If these family farms go out of business, there will be fewer crops available to you, and they will be of lower quality. If you buy these agricultural products as imported goods in your country or as a tourist, you will pay 2-3 times more later on in the market, shops, or restaurants. With your assistance, you are also assisting yourself. Win-Win. You could save hundreds of dollars on a vacation by doing this.

Why did I start this project?

I've been in Vietnam for 15 years, and every year I hear about new problems that are easily solved, such as adequate plant protection. I am constantly experiencing price increases, which I assumed were normal until I discovered the true cause.

At the end of last year, I was directly confronted with the problem and understood everything when my Vietnamese friend's farm and family were destroyed before our eyes, torn apart, and their 10-hectare rice crop was destroyed for the third time in a row by a fungal infection. That's when I decided to contact some of my expert friends who work in modern plant protection and ask them how we could assist these people and solve this problem. This is how the ADOPT 1 DRONE project was born.

What does the ADOPT 1 DRONE Project provide to struggling farmers?

When a problem is suspected, farmers can immediately access a free, professional plant protection service.

It also enables fast multispectral surveys and spot treatments, which is why, thanks to modern technology, targeted crop area treatment is carried out with quantitative water and chemicals that are orders of magnitude smaller.

A reduction in water usage of at least 90% and a reduction in pesticide use of at least 50% means a reduction in environmental effects by orders of magnitude. Because of the swirling effect of the drone rotors, plant protection compounds are administered not only to the upper and lower halves of the plants' leaves, resulting in a significant boost in efficiency, as diseases always start from the lower half of the leaves in the case of pest infections.

Spraying, fertilizing, sowing, and feeding on fish and shrimp farms, with a daily capacity of up to 500 hectares per drone.

Working in a healthy and safe manner while spraying and in any field or condition is especially important on mountain plantations.

What do we need to begin our project in Vietnam?

$2,000 USD for two survey drones outfitted with multispectral cameras.

Five spraying and fertilizer-spreading drones cost between $100,000 and $120,000 USD.

Purchase and annual costs for five service vehicles (pickup) are $145,000 USD

$7500 USD for five generators for charging drones at night and for fieldwork

$5,000 USD for training ten agricultural drone pilots

The annual salary for five administrators and ten pilots is $120,000 USD.

$25,000 USD for foundation registration and annual operating costs

In the first year, the total cost will be $424,000 USD. From the second year onward the cost will be $145,000 USD

Our contribution consists of one sprayer, one survey drone, and voluntary work in education and employment. We have no upper support limit; our goal is to buy as many drones as possible and help as many people in need as possible.

Isn't that quite a lot?

With the five drones, you can help as many as 10,000 families, which equates to the livelihood of 200,000 to 300,000 people. The first year will cost $40 USD per family! From year two onward, each family can be supported by just $15 USD
