Aderonke Haven of Hope Secondary School

Background

Aderonke Haven of Hope community Centre is a school located within a slum here in Nairobi Kenya along Kangundo road. It's the only hope that total orphans and partial orphans have to access education and have a chance of becoming independent in the future.

As a community, we have made it our goal to support the less fortunate children in Nairobi and the larger Kenyan society who have been denied education for various reasons, including high levels of poverty and others who have had to flee their homes because of injustices such as sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

This is a communal problem that has resulted in undergoing generational poverty within our society. It was evident that someone had to do something about the situation for the benefit of the coming generations. Despite having no support from the government or other NGOs, we have managed to significantly impact the lives of many young ones by mobilizing resources from like-minded well-wishers.

We are inspired by the success stories we have seen by keeping children from crimes, drug abuse, and generational poverty. With this education, some of our children have had an opportunity to attract government scholarships and proceed to first level college which provides them with a real chance in life.

Why This Money is Needed

Our main goal is to provide education to children whom we identify as having been disadvantaged by societal injustices. We advocate for these young girls, by providing them with safe haven where they can live in peace and be able to focus on their education. At Aderokne Haven of Hope, these victims are able to access a safe home, basic provisions, a friendly community, and access to education.

We believe that there is more strength in unity. There is more we would like to accomplish and touch more lives of children facing similar conditions to ensure we provide them with an equal opportunity to lead a clean and successful life.
