Campaign Story
- Who we are:
ACVV Kamvalethu Drop-In Centre is situated in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and accommodates about 80 children daily. The Centre feeds, clothes and educates these children ranging from the ages of 2 years old to 18 years old. Many of the success stories from Kamvalethu are of children who have been saved from a life of crime and drugs.
- What we do:
The Centre aims to look after these children from 8am until 5pm , when weunfortunately have to let the children back on the streets until the next day.
- Our plight:
We are in dire need of assistance to get better premises so that we can look after more children and, in the long run, house those who don't have anywhere to go at night.
Without a monthly donation of cash and/or food, toiletries, medical supplies and the like, the Centre struggles to stay open as these children cannot be looked after in the way that they deserve. Once the already dwindling funds have been used up, the Centre will sadly no longer be able to stay open and we cannot assist those in need.
Should any information be required as to how the donations will be used, audited documents can be made available upon request.
If you wish to donate directly through this website, a linked PayPal account is available.
Should you wish to pay directly to the Organisation, the banking details are as follows:
Name: ACVV Kamvbalethu Drop-In Centre
Bank: ABSA Bank
Acc no: 4058220131
Branch Code: 008408
- What you get in return
- Each “participant” pays R200 per month and then is entered into a lucky draw each month for 12 months.
- There will be three draws of R200; R150 and R100 per month, and a bumper one of R1000 at year-end.
- Our running costs are about R40 000 per month, so should we get 200 participants, we would cover one month’s expenses which is at least something, and also ongoing as more people sign up.
- Donors will receive regular updates on the Centre's as well as the children's progress on our Facebook page.
Please consider these street children as a worthy cause so that the organisation can grow and help many of these vulnerable children who need to be loved, clothed, fed and educated.
Regards,
The Kamvalethu Team
