Campaign Story
I've been a 'mom person' since the beginning and so growing up, I made it my goal to do whatever I can in my power to give my mother a good life. I got my chance when i finally graduated from college and started working. I eventually took the breadwinner torch from my father and did the best I could to fulfill the obligation. It was far from seamless but it was something I'm always more than happy to do.
Last July 25, my mom was complaining of what appears to be an extreme leg and hip pain from his left foot but that didn't stop her from still fulfilling what moms do always best. She was even preparing and cooking various food because it was my youngest brother's birthday but shortly after, the pain started becoming unbearable that she couldn't even move or walk. The pain was so sharp that she could not even turn on one side while lying down nor get a comfortable sleep.
I did get her a teleconsult the day after, bought needed medicines and eventually had her take an Xray as the doctor suggested. No fracture as feared so we just continued taking medications, It did not have any effect and the pain just got worse. To add to that, she doesn't have appetite so she's barely eating, and experiences chest tightness every so often.
I got her another teleconsult 5 days after. This time from an ortho as suggested by the first doctor. The doctor asked some questions and long story short, a new set of medicines were prescribed. That didn't help with the pain either and the chest tightness has gotten worse.
A day after that, we finally rushed her to the ER of a hospital and the doctor performed a series of tests that revealed she has Acute Coronary Syndrome and her chest tightness was actually a heart attack (STEMI to be specific). The hip/leg pain on the other hand was the cause of an infection from a wound that took a long time to heal.
Fast forward to today, she's been in the hospital for 2 weeks (4 days in ICU) and is getting all the medicine and care possible but it's far from smooth. There's been some complications from some of the medicines that caused GI bleeding, shortness of breath, loss in appetite to name a new. The infection her left hip and leg is improving but she still can't move it. I don't know how long I can keep up because the hospital bills have been piling up fast that I'm soon gonna be exhausting all my savings into it without any near resolution in sight.
Please help us provide for my mom's medical needs. The cost of her hospitalization and medicine is enormous and we also have to plan for a potential coronary angioplasty that the doctor has suggested. My mom is only 57. As her son, I don't feel like I've done enough for her yet for all the sacrifices and work that she's made for us. I want her to really get well by getting the every treatment possible as well as prepare for a potential surgery.
Please help us spread this fundraising campaign. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Update posted by Melvin Dichoso at 04:16 pmExactly 1 year ago, my mom was hospitalized for a severe leg infection and ended up getting diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome. Hospitalization lasted for nearly a month due to complications and between the financial burden and emotional toll, it was the worst moment of our lives.Recovery was initially quite. . . . .
More than a month since hospital discharge
Update posted by Melvin Dichoso at 04:59 pmMy mother has made some really good progress since being discharged from the hospital. She's now able to walk with very little assistance, she's also trying to do some of the things she's used to doing though just the lighter ones such as folding clothes, sweeping the floor, washing the. . . . .
Discharged from the hospital
Update posted by Melvin Dichoso at 04:43 amAfter roughly 3 weeks and 2 days, my mom has finally been discharged from the hospital. She is going to be taking maintenance medicine for the time being as we prepare for an angioplasty in the future which does not have a defined date yet. We're scheduled to meet with. . . . .
Some ups and downs in the past week
Update posted by Melvin Dichoso at 12:34 pmProviding updates is something that I find quite challenging during these times. Doctor gave the go signal for my mom to go home last Saturday but before that day, all of her medications were converted to tablets in preparation for that. Shortly after that, she experienced difficulty of breathing, allergies. . . . .
