Right knee - I have a complete tear of my ACL, a Grade 2 tear of my MCL & Grade 2 sprain of my LCL.
This occurred during an amateur football league game I was playing in. As my foot and studs got stuck in the ground while I was running, I fell over with all my weight on my right knee and initially dislocating it. It was snapped back into place on the spot by a fellow team mate. Was hoping that would be the only pain and problems I would be facing but after many scans (X-ray + MRI) I have done severe damage to my ACL and MCL.
Also whilst being treated, doctors discovered that my right ankle and calf were becoming unnaturally and seriously swollen and there were fears that I might have DVT (deep vein thrombosis) which is basically a blood clot so I had to undertake an emergency ultrasound. Under medications now to help with the swelling.
STATE OF MIND:
All this happened on the 27th of February and have been extremely depressed since the incident. I may not currently be a professional player but football and sports have always been part of my life since I was a little kid and have suffered many sporting injuries through my life but my doctor said that it would be at least a year before I return to the field and possibly even longer before I can start to play competitively with the many teams I am associated with.
I will require surgery and will need to have ACL reconstruction in the mere future (at the moment it will be scheduled for mid April). I am also being urged to start physiotherapy before my surgery and obviously to continue rehab after the surgery.
Anything you can donate to help get me through surgery and rehab would be amazing as the cost for surgery, physio, rehab and equipment will be altogether costly. I am going to fight my hardest to get strong enough to return to the sport I love but just as important, being able to walk an run normally again.
Thank you for your support, with or without a donation. I hope everyone has a great year ahead.
