Help Raise Funds to Buy Rainy Weather Clothes for Acchahuata Community’s Children

Hello, my name is Barbara Paztelan. I have been living in the Sacred Valley of Peru for the

past three years, and managing a Yoga Retreat Center here. The retreat center is a part of

an NGO called Sach’a Munay, which has helped fund the construction of two primary

schools in the small, local community which has welcomed our retreat center, and we also

provide lunch everyday for the children.

These children are lucky. Their communities are in the Sacred Valley, which has a large

flow of tourists and foreign and local do-gooders alike. But most NGOs, including our own,

can only help the local community of the Sacred Valley.

The children of the Community of Acchahuata, however, are not so lucky. They live so far away, that no one has even heard of them! The 55 kids of the Acchahuata community have to travel by foot 2 to 5 hours just to

make it to a school.

My coworker Sadith Molina first made me aware of this community around Christmas

2017, and my heart went out to them. They are so isolated! So, we took them nutrious food

and other Christmas presents out-of-pocket on that very same day, and did the same for

Christmas 2018. But they need more help - from December to early April is Peru’s rainy

season, and it is labeled accordingly: it rains heavily almost every day. Can you imagine, a

child walking 5 hours in pouring heavy rain without even the proper rainy weather

clothes?? The 55 children that this community holds are in dire need of rainboots

(wellingtons), socks, underwear, and school necessities such as notebooks, pencils, and

pens.

Please help us raise funds to provide them with these basic necesities!
