Access to justice, In the best interest of the children

This is an appeal for financial assistance where young children are caught in the middle of an acrimonious dispute between parents.

Because of the adversarial nature of our civil justice system, it is possible to win, but you were wrong. And it is possible to lose, but you were right. Often the win or loss is determined by which side has the funds to pay lawyers and to keep on paying lawyers during protracted and expensive legal battles. So very often the win is not based on substance but on access to money.

In matters where children’s best interests are at stake, it is unthinkable that this status quo should prevail as it would mean that access to justice for children remains a product of access to money.

This is a campaign to raise funds for two young children, and their best interests, to be represented independently of their parents interests and means and to make sure that their voices are compassionately, wisely and soberly brought to the fore as part of the court’s function in determining what really is in their best interests.
