Intruders who broke into a family home in East Lothian killed an eight-week-old puppy during the attempted theft, police have said. Two men broke into the house in Tranter Crescent, Aberlady, in the early hours of Friday while the family was sleeping. The suspects took the family pet out of a cage in the kitchen and killed it, police said. The intruders escaped from the house after being disturbed by the occupants. its is pure evil and nasty for anyone to get burgled but to find out that they have killed a pure innicent puppy is beyond beleave .  From our page on Facebook named dirty paws Lothian . Hi folks , am still in shock after the dreadful news about the couple in Aberlady and the death of the puppy , I can't understand how anyone can be so cruel , it's bad enough getting broken into by some nasty people while you are vulnerable and in bed but to take a wee puppies life is incomprehensible and pure evil , I am wondering if any one would like to be part of a small collection for them , I know it's maybe the wrong time of year for folks , so am only suggesting a £1 , we have over 650 people on the page ,so am sure it could add up. I know it's not going to replace am the pup but if we donate a £1.00 then it's something to repair any damages , or at least get a security alarm , anything that can give them some feeling of safety in there own home and to let them know that people do care and are thinking of them .Would anyone be interested in helping ? If so please leave a small comment underneath , Thanks folks   once again it may be a pound or anything , just to show them we care , it may be some help for the cremation , just a way to say we are thinking of you .

UPDATE: we have spoken to the family and are very much in shock still , and wish to remain private , they are very touched and very gratful for everyone's help and donations , the family have asked that the money be given to charity and that dirty Paws Lothian does this on there behalf . As poor Mia was a eight week old spaniel , we have sugested that any funds raised with go to the spaniel rescue centre as a mark of respect to Mia and her family . Throught this apeal Edinburgh and Lothian pet crematorium (   http://edinburghandlothianpetcrematorium.com/.  ) have very kindly came forward and will give poor Mia a proper send of free of charge , a very kind donation from them , once the body has been released from the police .

We at dirty paws Lothian Facebook page will be doing auctions over the January period to raise more funds in the name of Mia , so at least something positive can come out of this nasty evil cruelty .

Please feel free to join us at (   https://m.facebook.com/sdirtypawslothian?refsrc=https://www.facebook.com/sdirtypawslothian

once again thank you fir your help , even if it's a  one pound , that can Make a huge difference , if you can't donate for any reason then please share this apeal with all your friends , family , neighbours , bosses , anyone you can think of , let's not let poor Mia's live be for nothing, let's not let her life been forgoten , let her life count even If it was for only 8 weeks , life's to short not to make a difference , through Mia we can help and change other pups and dogs that that didn't have a loving family like Mia had before her death ,

thank you every one !
