One of the reasons why Zee's gone back to eating (quite a bit) of meat now:

"For example, some beans are high in potassium, a nutrient that can cause further damage to the kidneys when the level in your body gets too high. This can also cause you to feel some numbness or tingling in your body, and extreme levels of potassium can even cause a heart attack."

Good day! :)

What does potassium have in correlation to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)?

Potassium is present in a lot of food groups but mostly in fruits and vegetables. For example, squash (kalabasa), sweet potatoes (kamote), potatoes, broccoli and bananas are rich in potassium. Hence CKD patients avoid such food or keep it very limited in order not to have Hyperkalemia

"When kidneys fail they can no longer remove excess potassium, so the level builds up in the body. High potassium in the blood is called hyperkalemia, which may occur in people with advanced stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD)."

https://www.davita.com/kidney-disease/diet-and-nut...

If you would like to learn more about this, you can read from the link below.

Hi! Lunch is in a few hours!

When I'm in a hurry, I weigh my pasta (150g), pour on tomato sauce (low sodium at 90g), and portion a more or less 30g chicken (minus the skin and bones.) . That's it! Complete meal with carbs, vegetables and protein!
How about you? What's for lunch today?

Please continue to support our cause and we will be so grateful.

'Water is the driving force of all nature.' - Leonardo da Vinci

I'm allowed 1.5 liters of water per day - no more no less. Just like how strict my diet is, so is my fluid intake. I must not drink less than 1. 5 liters or I will get dehydrated and my creatinine levels will rise up and thus harming my kidneys. I must not drink more than 1.5 or I will get swollen (either my legs and feet or it's my eyes that swell up looking like as if it's just some hideous eyebags. ) the computation includes any soup I might have.
I don't drink any sodas, energy drinks, juice (fresh and powdered), iced tea, tea or coffee so it's pretty much just water all day everyday. There are only some special exceptions, like a cup of freshly squeezed calamansi (without sugar but with sweetener) or a cup of pure black decaf coffee (I'm only allowed that much per day) but I deduct those drinks from my 1.5 liters allowance. 1.5 liters is equals to 6 cups or glasses of 250 ml.
The bottle in this picture contains 500 ml so my limit would be only 3pcs of that. (I'm no endorser of Summit, but I'm open for negotiation for contract signing. Haha! Kidding.)

Presenting my wonderful doctors! It was a good day for a check up .

The lady on the first picture below is Dra. Maria Jocelyn Isidro. She is my endocrinologist who carefully looks after my diabetes and related matters.

The gentleman on the second picture is Dr. Richard Hizon who is an expert nephrologist who looks after my kidney health.

And then there's me and of course I made sure I also look good in the pictures. :)
Thank you again for all those that sent over support these past few days.

God bless you all!

Hi!

I just wanted to share about Kidney Uremia.

I often feel so cold and chilly. Sometimes my teeth would chatter too even in a "normal" room temperature, also even when every one else around me would feel just fine.

During one of my check ups with my nephrologist (kidney doctor) he confirmed that this is due to my kidney failure, and not merely because I have low immunity due to diabetes and such. He said he it is due to Kidney Uremia, on top of my Anemia that is due to my Kidney Failure as well.

According to this source, I certainly have this symptom.

Symptom 8: Feeling Cold

Accumulation of uremic wastes can cause decreased core body temperature (hypothermia). People have difficulty tolerating cold winter months. Also anemia related to kidney failure can make you feel cold all the time, even in a warm room.

So, if you would see me, you would usually see me with jackets and long sleeves - all covered up! Yet, I still, I try to do it with style, of course.

We would appreciate any support you can give us. You can click the DONATE NOW button, or you can also donate through BDO. Kind words and prayers are most appreciated too.

Good bless you all!
