ABCF Fundraiser

Hi everyone!

I will be travelling to Ghana for the 3rd time on February 13th but this time i will be working as a volunteer with a small non-profit organization - ABCF (Alicia Basel Consult Foundation) based in Kumasi, Ghana.

I first met with ABCF on my last trip to Ghana in 2014 through a friend. ABCF is run by a small group of graduates, nurses and international volunteers including myself. Their aim is to help in every way they can to improve the orphanges in Kumasi as well as small local schools by setting up several events each year to perform health checks, donate clothes, set up food stalls, games and provide as much help as they can in any other way.

The organization founder was an orphan also due to his mother dying which later inspired him to set up this organization and named it after his mother (Alicia).  So he knows how much help is needed in orphanges everyday.  

As this organization is not funded, the only source of income is what ever the volunteers bring to the table. Usually, i would never set up a fundraiser and would rely on my own income but now that i have got involved with the organization i realise that my income alone is not going to be enough. I haven't set up this fundraiser to cover my own costs (flight, visa, living expenses etc) - i have that covered and also have some of my own savings to spend on the kids but to be able to buy supplies in bulk for the orphanges i am going to need more than i thought!

So this is why I have set up a small fundraiser with hopes to raise some money that would be spent on childrens clothes, shoes, games and also food.  Any small amount helps! Thank you in advance to anyone willing to donate - Kerry
