abandoned Uganda deaf kids special education

WHERE:

Uganda is next to Kenya, Congo and is on nothern side of Lake Victoria, in Eastern Africa.  Uganda is one of the few places in the world most heavily affected by malaria, typhoid fever, tuberculosis and many other diseases.  Dire poverty means that there is little money for food, education or for medical care, especially for the abandoned children we call orphans.  They are abandoned because of poverty, diseases, parents that have no education or money or do not know how to care for deaf children.

THE CHILDREN

The children who will benefit are deaf, disabled, abandoned, orphans who lack so many things we in USA tkae for granted.  Those who have a parent or guardian are destitute and unable to pay for school fees, medical care or even food.

WHY WE CARE

A child in school, if they are in the small fortunate group, do not always have food or medical care.  Education is said to be "free" in Uganda, yet the required fees for students are beyond the hopes and dreams of even the hardest working families.  A child has no opportunity to move beyond the terrible poverty except through education.  A Deaf or Disabled child has no chance at all.

WHO WE ARE

Compassion Care Foundation was started in 2007 when individual funds were used up.  It has a board of Directors who are volunteers.  The Directors and volunteers receive no wages, salaries or stipends.  Majority of organization expenses are paid by the Directors and Volunteers.  99% of all funds received go direct to the children via trusted school headmasters, or organizations.

HOW YOU CAN HELP A CHILD

You may wish to sponsor a child for a full year of school, or you may give any amount toward that goal, or for their needs.  Your gift of any amount helps to "rescue" a child in need.

There are over 60 deaf children at St. Anthony's for Deaf, who now have someone to care for, and to love them.  This organization has little support but does their level best in providing shelter, food and even basic special education to prepare them for future.  The children no longer sleep in alleys of Kampala, or search trash for food, and they are happy to be rescued and cared for.

Another 80 orphans in northern Uganda, the Gulu District, are now being taught by a teacher (man) who receives no pay, but wants to help these kids.  He started with a few orphans, teaching under a tree, more orphans came until there are now over 80 kids seeking education, care and food - and most of all - some love.
