My name is Aashirwad Kataria, I am 18 years old and I have been diagnosed with a rare form of tumor known as Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma. This tumor mostly occurs in men and exists in the nose. It has led to spontaneous bleeding and has made it hard for me to breathe through my nose. The recommended treatment is surgery to remove the tumor from the nose. In the case that I do not receive surgery, the potential effects could lead to blindness and a deformity of my facial features.
There are two types of surgery that are possible: one is known as Degloving (involves lifting the skin off the patients face for the doctors to access the tumor and remove it). The second is known as Endoscopic method (involves using a small camera and other tools to enter the nasal tract and remove the tumor that way). This way is more dangerous since my tumor is close to the optic nerve (the eye). Both options involve extreme blood loss and require embolization of the tumor which is a radioactive process that is used to clot the artery so that there is less blood loss during the surgery. However, since the tumor is attached to a major artery, the operation will require a significant blood transfusion.
After surgery, I will have to be hospitalized for 3-5 days. In post-operation, recovery will require me to be bedridden for 7-10 days while tending to wounds and taking possible prescribed antibiotics. Overall recovery will take 4-6 weeks.
In order to receive either of these treatments, my family will need to pay for embolization, surgery, the extra blood for the transfusions, and post-op recovery. The total cost for all of these procedures will be approximately $8000.00 USD.At this time, my family is unable to provide the funds needed for this surgery. We are Indian missionaries who have lived in the Philippines for the past 8 years and have ministered to many Indian students, the PNP (Philippines National Police), and other government sectors of the Philippines. Every day has been through faith since we have no support from any mission organization. This is why raising up such a large amount of money in a short time is extremely difficult for us.
Please keep me and my family in your prayers as we journey through this challenging time. Please also consider helping us financially, so that I may receive this surgery. I hope to overcome with the grace of God and His provision.
If you are wanting to send money to support my surgery, please see the information below. I will need the funds as soon as the 4th of July so that I can begin consultation and with the Lord's help find the right surgeon that can remove this tumor. I just graduated from high school in May and will be continuing my studies in Canada, starting in September. I need to receive surgery as soon as possible since the recovery period will be quite long.
Based on this urgent need, I am asking you, as brothers and sisters, to pray for me and my family and to prayerfully consider helping us raise the needed funds for my surgery.
