Aaron Torda’s Brain Surgery Fundraising

We are hoping to help our brother Aaron Torda on his brain surgery procedure, fees and other medical expenses. In 2019 my brother left for Kuwait to work as a Filipino overseas worker in hospitality. Like many other young Filipino men and women, my brother is one of the main bread winners of the family. While working overseas, the deadly Corona virus pandemic hit. Many Filipinos lost their jobs far away from home with little or no compensation at all from their companies/agencies, one of them includes my brother. For 6 months, my brother and a few of his fellow workers that he also share their housing with, were left with little money, supplies and any kind of support from anyone but the good people of Christian communities in Kuwait. Even if they were asked to come back to work after the Kuwait lockdown, they were paid half of their salaries not enough to support themselves financially and medically. When my brother started to show symptoms of Bells palsy, he did not have much for money to go see a doctor which ultimately resulted to stress and anxiety that only made his condition worse.

Aaron decided with the help of family and friends, that it is best to come home to the Philippines as life and future in Kuwait is seemingly became unbearable especially with his condition and for an OFW in similar situation as him with little savings in a foreign land. Once he was back to Philippines, he went to a series of tests and receive a shocking news. He was diagnosed with a Brain tumor . It started in the back of his cranium and growing rapidly as time goes by adding pressure the the part of his brain that greatly affect his current motor skills. This also controls the way he walks, balance and parts of his right hand side of his face (facial muscle, eyesight, smell, and taste). We hope to put him into surgery so that the nerve damage/brain damage can be minimised before it's too late.

We are urgently hoping to raise PHP 900,000 pesos for the operation as soon as we can. This amount will cover the removal of the tumor as we race against time due to it's rapid growth and Aaron's quality of life is also quickly deteriorating.
