A young person trying to change the life of children in disadvantaged community for the better.

My name is Sanelisiwe Mthembu and I'm 20 years of age. I live in Pietermaritzburg KwaZulu Natal in a place called plessislaer.

In the year 2016 I opened a day care center in my community because I knew it was time we have a place where the children can be safely monitored, taken care of and also where they can be taught life skills at an early age. In the past years there has been a high number of children being hit by cars and die when they cross over to go to the shop across the road, now you might ask yourself why children go to the shop by them selves the reason is they were usually left alone by their parents and they had nothing to do but to go and buy junk with the little cents they get. There's also a high number of children abuse not only by outsiders but by the family members as well.

By opening this day care I knew it could reduce the level of these social issues faced by children in my community and I could also prepare the children for primary school.

Now the reason why Im starting this campaign is that I would like people to assist us with, Toys, study materials, food and nap time material, reason being the centre is still in the process of registration and funding by DSD and it is taking quite a while but the children are there everyday and they need all these things as part of their everyday growth. The money they pay is never enough to take care of the center's needs and those of children as well.
