HELP A SINGLE MOTHER GET HER CHILDREN BACK
Hi! My name is Shayna and I'm a single mother living in Israel. I have 3 amazing children: a 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old boy.
I've been divorced for nearly 5 years and have dedicated this time to allow my children and me to heal and develop strong, healthy tools to cope with the pain. We've come so far and my kids have soaked up all of the support, developing into healthy and wholesome children.
We lived for nearly 14 years in the city of Bet Shemesh where my ex-husband lives. But at the end of 2020, we agreed that the children and I would move to Modiin; a brighter, happier, and more fitting environment for our children to be raised. But when we arrived, my ex-husband refused to sign our children up in local schools, demanding that the kids learn in Bet Shemesh.
Shortly after, he took me to the religious courts here - the Bet Din - where he fought to have the children returned to their schools in Bet Shemesh. The social department got involved and assessed our children, our homes, and our capabilities as parents. They're recommended to the Bet Din that in the best interest of the children, the kids would live and learn in Modiin with me as their guardian.
The courts rejected the social worker's recommendation, blinded by their own bias against me, and ruled without a warrant to give custody to my ex-husband and have the children resume school in Bet Shemesh.
How could they rule such an outrageous decision, you ask? They see me as a woman who has left the religious world, no longer keeping shabbat or kashrut. Of course, none of this is true but they are deliberately ignoring the facts and making rulings affecting the lives of these precious children solely on their unfounded bias against me.
But something can be done, and you can help! To get the proper legal support I need to raise 50,000 nis (shekel). With your support, I will be able to hiring the best lawyers who deal with religious cases in the Bet Din to help return my children back home.
