₱10,200raised of ₱50,000.00 goal goal
This campaign is for our community and family, who have been badly hit by the Category 5 Typhoon Odette (International name, Rai) last December 16, 2021. The day after the typhoon, the whole city of Cebu was in a total blackout, due to some electrical posts that were down, trees falling down, and cutting all wires, including all telecommunications. Day 2 was when all the people started to panic, as water supplies were scarce, long lines on gasoline stations for those who have a generator set to power, supermarkets were closed as they too were badly affected and a lot of buildings were damaged. We received some help from our families outside of Cebu, they were able to send water and canned goods for us to last a week.
However, with three kids, and the weather here in the Philippines is very hot, water is very important and one gallon of water is only good for 1 day. We need to line up the entire day just to get a refill of our water.
Christmas was very sad for some of us here, with no lights, and not the traditional Noche Buena, were just thankful that the kids were very understanding of our situation.
We are trying to raise this fundraising, hoping to have a clean drinking water supply not only for us but also to the family in our community who are not able to afford the stocking up on drinking water and also to those whose houses were damaged by the typhoon. We will also use this for ample food supply.
Here are the news articles regarding the typhoon and the aftermath;
