A New Life for Julie

Imagine the Horror

When we go to the doctor or the hospital, we generally expect things to work out for the best.  My friend, Julie, was admitted to the hospital for routine disc (spinal) surgery a few years ago.  What happened was beyond nightmarish.  The surgeon removed all of Julie's vertebrae in her neck so that she could no longer hold her own head up.  We can only guess that two patient charts got mixed up.   Imagine the horror upon awakening to discover you are horribly and painfully crippled for life by an unnecessary and destructive surgical operation.  The physical and psychological trauma Julie endures to this day is tremendous.  She is unable to file for malpractice because of the surgeon's prestigious reputation! 

The Pain is Enormous

After 2 years, Julie was able to get an out-of-state doctor to help (no one in Oregon would admit it was malpractice) and she now has metal rods holding her head up.  The pain is enormous.
