Hi, My name is Letitia, In 1990, I gave birth to premature twins Harvey and Ricki , they were 6 months premature,  they weighed less than a bag of sugar ,the doctors at Queen Charlottes hospital gave them a 50/50 chance of survival, they were in incubators for the first three months of life, but somehow they made it and they were able to come home.Unfortunately Ricki continued to have respiratory problems and unfortunately had to have a tracheotomy inserted, an air blockage ultimately caused brain death due to lack of oxygen to the brain and the hospital had to turn the machines off and at the age of 15 months on the 1st of April 1991; our sweet Ricki went to sleep permanently.Harvey went on to have learning difficulties, speech problems and general development problems, he struggled through school with a statement of special educational needs, although we later discovered that this was due to dyslexia ,dyspraxia and aspergers.     However in September 2009 at the age of 19 Harvey began to loose balance and coordination, he was consistently tripping and stumbling his speech became more slurred and within 2 months he'd almost lost the use of the right side of his body. The consultant neurologist diagnosed that this wide stance limp was caused by Cerebral Palsy which had been caused by birth trauma. Harvey has lost the use of his right arm and hand, his right leg is a dead weight, it doesn't function and he suffers from drop foot. 2013 was a nightmare as I developed cancer cells in my left breast at the age of 43 I had surgery and radiotherapy to remove them and Harvey had cluster seizures throughout the year in was in and out of hospital. Harvey's has a younger brother who also has moderate learning difficulties, I have 2 adult sons who need a lot more guidance, support and care than their peers   My Appeal Harvey's has a carer who takes him out during the week helps him with shopping and daily tasks but as his mother and primary carer, I am appealing for funds to move into a bigger property, as the layout of the property we live in does not cater for Harveys needs, Harvey needs a walk in shower grips tap grips rail support , raised toilet off street parking and he definitely needs more space to manoeuvre because of physical disability , he is consistently bumping into stationary objects, he has fallen in the bath and has had seizures in the bathroom, the estate agency that manage the property have time and again ignored our requests to repair the leaks and damp which is becoming unbearable and we have exhausted all avenues including reporting them to local authority private sector housing (all to no avail) and because of a severe shortage of housing for the disabled we are unable to find accommodation through the local authority. I am a full time carer to Harvey and I work part time from home but its extremely difficult to get onto the property ladder. We are looking to by a house which will give Harvey the space he needs, an extra room for a sleep over carer, most young men are leaving home at this age but for obvious reasons we need to stay together.   Thank You for your time and for all donations Many thanks Regards   Letitia   Hi, My name is Letitia, In 1990, I gave birth to premature twins Harvey and Ricki , they were 6 months premature,  they weighed less than a bag of sugar ,the doctors at Queen Charlottes hospital gave them a 50/50 chance of survival, they were in incubators for the first three months of life, but somehow they made it and they were able to come home.Unfortunately Ricki continued to have respiratory problems and unfortunately had to have a tracheotomy inserted, an air blockage ultimately caused brain death due to lack of oxygen to the brain and the hospital had to turn the machines off and at the age of 15 months on the 1st of April 1991; our sweet Ricki went to sleep permanently.Harvey went on to have learning difficulties, speech problems and general development problems, he struggled through school with a statement of special educational needs, although we later discovered that this was due to dyslexia ,dyspraxia and aspergers.     However in September 2009 at the age of 19 Harvey began to loose balance and coordination, he was consistently tripping and stumbling his speech became more slurred and within 2 months he'd almost lost the use of the right side of his body.
