I bought my computer back in 2008 with severence pay after I was declared unfit for work due to disabilities.
I've done everything I can to keep it going for as long as I can from upgrading the ram to getting a new optical drive.
But it crashes more times than it works and it has been screen ghosting for years making very hard to use and see what I'm doing. To clarify it is a hardware issue not an OS issue, it's a known fault in fact with the screen and in general it crashes from age despite a RAM upgrade.
It has been my way to connect with family and friends, the tool I use to research my conditions and find self help where I have been refused treatment from the NHS for years. It's been my tool for my art and photography (www.veritysmart.uk). It's been my therapy. It's been my distraction when I've been suicidal. It has literally been a lifeline to me and I would be beyond words lost without it.
I have agoraphobia, depression, EUPD and anxiety as well as Ehlers-Danlos Sydrome which impacts my mobility and I need walking aides.
To say I'm on low income is putting it mildly and I'm no longer in a position to replace this computer with today's equivalent.
I'm on here now in the hope that someone, anyone will be generous enough to help me in getting a new computer to do everything this one has done for me these last 8 years.
Thank you you for reading and any help you can offer.

I hope you get your new computer soon, the problems with your present one are probably software related rather than hardware.

Coming from a family rife with mental illness and neurological conditions and struggling with my own demons (depression, anxiety and ADHD) I fully get where you're coming from, especially when it comes to support and understanding. Technology is a way to link to an otherwise square holed world when you're a rounded off peg (I don't like it the other way round! I have no right angles to speak of!) I hope my little goes a long way to help you and I'm only at the end of a fibre optic cable if you ever need a friend. Much love and sunshine to you. xx
