Thank you for showing interest in a little man’s cause. Please let me summarize our story in a few points and then provide a longer explanation below.
It would make me more confident, if our case was something unique, a special one. Unfortunately it is not case. There are thousands if not million cases out there just like this, most of them probably slowly forgotten as the years go by. However, I want to believe that this story can be different! My father did not give up! I could see the light in his eyes fighting for his family until his last breath. Dozens of e-mails, messages and phone calls…
All he’s got was PROMISES. And what happens if the promises are not enough? Then it’s time for LIES. Sometimes I felt like our life is just like a movie script, the man behaved just like an antagonist, whose actions were copied from a sociology book. Promises, go with the lies, and threaten if needed… All my father could do was to wait, and believe. Waiting and checking his e-mails every day, making sure he has no missed calls, and checking bank account every second day. In the end he was even ready to make compromises, he would not need the whole amount once, anything the company could afford would be enough, just so we could pay for the bills. No phones were answered anymore, no more emails, and of course not even a cent paid.
Now, one might say he was a fool for believing such stories, and yes, you are completely right. He is a fool, who has been helping others all his life, a man who did everything for his family and friends, but never asked anything in return. He did believe the stories of his boss as he lied about being diagnosed with cancer, a really sensitive topic in our family, and an absolute taboo to lie about.
With each day passing, I can see my father resign himself to the inevitable, putting up a fake smile and saying: “We have always managed somehow”. On the top of all this, his request for a postponed tax filing was rejected, with a fine included for not doing the paperwork on time…on the money he has never received. This was the last straw; the always strong father figure was completely broken, the high hopes he had, mercilessly crushed. He started a new job, going back to the starting line again.
It is my time now to carry on, to be his support when everyone else seems to have given up. I am working part-time in college, but time is a pressing matter. As shameful as it might be, with this pace, it will take years to save up enough; this is why I decided to reach out to people like YOU. Just to see how much of an impact can YOU make, a generous donation of 1€ is worth of 20 minutes’ of my own salary. It means that YOU get me 20 whole minutes closer to giving back the kindness to those who have been always there for ME. Because now, dear reader, when YOU and ME join forces, it is US who can make a difference.
Thank you for reading our story through the end and supporting us in any form; be it a small donation or even a positive thought.
