A Little Help for Sis Rosa

This is Sis Rosa. She never told us her last name. She is from our church, and was previously the babysitter of my brother (the one on the right) until I finished college.

She's 73 years old and she's still working 3 different jobs as labandera, or someone who handwashes someone else's clothes. The reason for that is she had 5 children to support by herself after her husband died, all of them having heart problems. Her 2 oldest children died a few years ago, and she's currently providing medicine for her remaining children.

She receives help from the mayor, 2 of the 6 injections needed by her children are provided by the mayor, but still, the money she makes from handwashing clothes are less than the expenses they need to live plus the medicine.

Recently, she was about to receive PHP8000 (around USD170-180) for her pension for the month, but she didn't know that she needs to report yearly, so her pension will be delayed until February. She broke down in front of me, asking for a little bit of help because she doesn't have enough money for this month. But I'm still jobless, still reviewing for the board exam, and my parents were not home so I gave her what I had and told her to come back before Christmas.
