I will begin in the journey in October 2001 with my new husband and my 4yr old daughter we began our lives. The day I got married was where the dream ended.
Short lived and became a nightmare of physical and mental abuse which lasted 10 years. Eventually building the courage to leave Cape Town and head for Johannesburg job less ( was retrenched ) penny less and leaving by now my 2 girls in Cape Town with their great grandmother. November 2010 began the new story.
Having got a minimum wage job and a place to stay . The first of many difficult decisions arose. I could only afford to bring my one daughter to Johannesburg. Thus our new journey began.
Putting my teenager through high school and trying to maintain my job has been an up hill battle with many many closed doors along the way.
You see I have very bad health issues and I am classified as morbid obese class 3 my BMI is 50. The weight has been a demon fight for most of my life and I am at the loosing end. I am 2 years away from being 40. I am busy writing my matric and diploma proving to my daughters it's never to late to make a success of life no matter how rough the road has been. Not being able to move properly or breath properly has really impacted our lives and my work life as well. I have been in and out of hospital so many times that the company I work for does unpaid sick leave. I understand their side but wow it really impacts us a lot.
My General Surgeon DR J.P Swart and my Professor Obedy Mwantembe ( gastroenologist) have both advised that Gastric Bypass surgery is the way to go as it will increase my quality of life and productivity in general. By doing the Gastric Bypass surgery the colon part that is badly effected by the diverticulitis will be bypassed and thus assisting me in becoming more healthy and able to be productive in life and work.
Currently I have contacted Prof Tess Van der Merwe (registered Endocrinologist) from Centres of Excellence for Metabolic Medicine and Surgery (SA). http://www.sasomonline.co.za/.
I have done my research and even changed medical aids to be able to get closer to the dream of being healthy and living life to its fullest. In saying that there is still an amount of R40 000.00 in rands , 3,895.20 USD, 4,091.20 AUD, 2,421.60 GBP, 2,879.60 EUR. Which I would need to pay cash.
Due to my working situation and minimum wage I will never be able to reach this amount on my own. I appeal to the people who read this to please see fit to assist me in gaining my monetary goal so that I can continue my journey of learning that I am more than somebodies abuse toy and that my life means more.
But most of all I would like to continue being around for my girls to be able to teach them the joys of life and give them the building blocks to be the successes in life that I know they can be. My girls are 16 and 10.
May God Bless you and keep you in his care. I thank you all for taking the time to read my story and many thanks in advance if you able to help.
