Hello peeps, thank you for your time to check out this campaign.
My name is Amirul Baqhtear, 25 years old indie producer goes by the name of “Wuzgut.” I collaborated with my friend, a really talented independent artist “Gard” for our debut EP titled “CPR (Club Perenang Rohani).” It has received a warm welcome from various listeners which we kind of didn’t expect it since we lack of capital to spend on promotions. Wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s been supported us since before and after the release. Since the release, we believe this could be one of our ways to sustain our life (the ministers here told us to take 3 jobs just to keep food on the table). We could do commissioned work from others (songwriting, producing, etc).

Me and my friends were just recently given a gold opportunity to perform our debut EP project live in a gig hosted by Raising The Bar (Sunday Afternoon Rap Club). We were ambitious in setting up the live performance; we wanted to use all these sort of plugins (delay, reverb, pitch correction) to achieve the ambience of the EP itself on stage. We wanted to give the best live experience to all of our friends and attendees and prove that we independent artists could also do what all the big acts do without big capital. Just straight out of bedroom set up. Unfortunately, the laptop I brought died on me during the live set. Here’s the story.

During the soundcheck, we experienced some sort of delays (high latency) and dropout (pops & clicks) issues when we tried to play live. I set the latency from (high) 512 samples down to (mediocre) 256 samples which resulted to occasional dropouts. It was only minor hiccups we assumed, so we proceed with the setup with only pitch correction plugin run. It couldn’t go any lower due to CPU limitation (Intel i3 processor with 4GB of RAM). We tried to play it safe though the latency caused from 256 samples was already a red flag. It was performing okay during the soundcheck session with but the continuous heavy CPU processing of the plugin took a toll on it. During the first song, I saw the CPU meter in my DAW (FL Studio) was maintained at 60% (crazy high). It caused delays and screwed the whole set. Minutes after that, the laptop totally went batshit and froze sort of like it’s bricked on me. It was a fucked up moment for me personally. I decided to turn the whole set off and gave the host (shout out to Jin I should’ve used that Scarlett) the minus one. So, the gig went on as usual without all these extra effects we wanted to have. If I were to blame anyone or anything for this I’d blame myself for not being prepared and the laptop for being an ass LOL.

I found out that the laptop we used wasn’t optimized for real-time audio; it was never meant to be. I have to find a laptop that can work on CPU intensive task since we want it to be able to cope with real-time processing. I have to find something that can work best on sequential (serial) processing (audio processing) instead of parallel processing (video editing).

I began to search a gear that fits to the job and came across this mighty beast; Asus ROG STRIX G G731G-TAU043T. I’d prefer to try my hands on Macbook Pro 13 but well, #PCMASTERRACE for life bro. The single core performance from Intel i7-9750H impresses me when I try to compare with any other expensive Intel i9 processor laptops which in terms of price it’s already out of my league. And of course, if I were to be given the chance to choose, I’d opt for the one with Intel i9 processor but this ROG would do.

With all that being said, thank you for time reading this long write-up. I already saved some money to buy a new one but the only thing I can’t afford right now is time since we’re already on the move for our next LP project. I kind of need this beast before the year ends. So, all the fund will be used to buy the laptop.

I need a new gear to help us connect with potential clients; be it individuals or companies. This is crucial for our work and our eventual business that we are currently building with what little capital we have. With your fund, it helps me upgrade our work and empower our portfolio. And of course, I need it for us to live up to our dream; PERFORMING IN BIG FESTIVALS WOOOOOO!!!

Anything you can donate will be deeply appreciated. Here's our EP CPR (Club Perenang Rohani)
