Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatulAllah wa barakatuhu.

I recently arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan. I personally met Ghulaam Qasim in Islamabad in a mosque at Maghrib time a few weeks ago. He was dishevelled and looked tired when he sat with me and explained his circumstances. I bought him a simple meal and did what little I could to help. The next day he travelled back to his village, Jatoi which took him twelve hours. His sole purpose of coming to Islamabad was to get some help to rebuild his house, which was destroyed by the recent floods.

My wife questioned me about giving him cash, and thought I was getting a little carried away (because I only arrived in Islamabad a few days prior to this incident). Her point was that Pakistan is full of poor people how many people will you help? In response I mentioned to her the story of the boy throwing starfish into the ocean. If you are not familiar with this story please read it here: https://eventsforchange.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/t...

Ghulaam Qasim's home was destroyed because of recent flooding in his area. I am 100% certain (insha'Allah), if we all work together and give a little we can raise the sum required to rebuild Ghulaam Qasim's home. Ghulaam Qasim is a poor farmer who has three daughters and we will be making a huge difference in his life (insha'Allah).

I am here in Pakistan for a few more months (insha'Allah) my hope is to visit him personally and hand over the money to him or help him set up a bank account where he can deposit the money.

In all matters Allah (swt) alone grants success.
