A house for an amazing mother

Dear everyone,

My name is Lorena Castillo, I am 26 years old and I live in Temuco, Chile. This campaign is very special for me because it is super close to my heart. I am doing this for my mother. Her name is Lorena Montero. She is 50 years old and she is a teacher in an elementary school.

Everyone in the school love her, from her students to her colleagues. Where to start… my mother’s dream has always been having her own house. We had always lived renting houses and right now we are living with my grandparents in the countryside, the house is not very big and even has a lot of mice in the roof. The house has a lot of imperfections and repairs that cannot be done because it is expensive. Our dream is to have a new house and live there with my grandparents as well. A house where we can live worthily. I just almost just finished University, I am an English-Spanish Translator but there is no jobs opportunities because of the pandemic. It is very difficult to find a job, we are living just with what my mom makes and my grandparent’s pensions (which are low). We are a family of five, my mom, my grandparents, my brother and my mom’s partner (he has also been trying to find a new job since March and it’s been impossible). Also I would like to say that we used to rent a house and we left to live with my grandparents because they both are sick. This is why Juan Carlos (my mother’s partner) quit his job to come with us to live with my grandparent. My mother is literally the BEST person I know. She is so dedicated to her job and really passionate about teaching. I only want the best for her and it is really sad for me to see her frustrated and complicated about money issues. Her dream is to buy a premade house (they are called this way here in Chile) which is a house that comes already made and they deliver it where you want to put it. It is a lot less expensive than building a house from scratch. It costs around $10.000.000 Chilean pesos which is around $12,630 US dollars. I know maybe it is not that much for people in the US because a house there it costs a lot more but the dollar value here is higher than the Chilean peso and like I said is a premade house and not a house made from zero and this costs a lot less.

This is a surprise for my mom. She doesn’t know that I am doing this fundraising and I am hoping I can raise that money or even close to it. Everything would help a lot. Thank you so much for even reading our story, if you can donate something it would be appreciated, you don’t know how much!
