Hi, a self employed artist studio need emergency funding asap please, to enable their horse can still get food by the end of May 2020. Situation is urgent at moment.
Monthly feed at current exchange rate of average $50 - $60 (around ZAR1,000 per month, South African Rand) is not within reach anymore now. In paying forward, the artist pledged that for every $50.00 raised, one of their drawings or ceramic pieces will be donated to a local horse shelter for the shelter to sell or auction off for funds as needed by that shelter.
The artist admits that they: 'find time management and organizing skills extremely difficult and to try raise funds with sales on internet would be a lengthy process and likely lead to starvation before enough funds are ever generated' ... (their own words). It does put in perspective the insight of their own limitations where internet marketing is concerned, and the guts to admit it has come to point to ask for financial help.
The studio income relied on the tourist trade to maintain the household and the horse which have been family for 15 years. The income have came to an abrupt halt when lockdowns started. Markets could not be attended and no orders are coming in. No customers mean no money generated and the last horse feed were bought a few days ago which will last for two weeks (till last week in May).
Funds are depleted for any more feed after that. There are no means of sufficient government aid either so donations is urgently requested please. Fortunately the farm where horse stays have waived the standing fees during this time and that is a huge relief but insufficient food is the immediate concern, and with winter approaching is at the worst of timing for the horse. Local shelters are also overwhelmed for food aid.
Art is probably not essential, but food and paying bills still is essential for the artist studio to survive the next few months. The last income have now been stretched to the limits of run out after these surprise events of 2020. The bills are already not all met even though on average it usually is a frugal household so the smallest amount of help will be able to go a long way.
We need financial help via donations please, toward the goal of approximately $500-750 so that for a few months horse (and studio) will be able to survive until supply of stock and ceramic painting workshops in the pipeline can resume for income further down the line, when travel and usual trade can happen again.
Thank you kindly for your help, because any and every bit will go directly toward saving the horse and ultimately also saving a self employed artist survive this year.
Take care all.
