- On the 27th of August 2020, my mother's home caught fire from the electrical wires in her informal settlement of Elias Motsoaledi in around Soweto. My mother, my little sister who is 8 and little brother who is 9 were at home sleeping at the time. The boy was in the living room when the fire started, it quickly spread to the kitchen, that's when the boy woke up and started running towards the kitchen door to try and escape, it was too late the fire had already caught momentum and my mother and the little girl were in the bedroom my mother advice the little girl to jump out of the bedroom window as she quickly rushed to save the boy in the kitchen who was struggling to escape and was burning, she got to the boy wrapped him in her arms and ran trough the fire sustaining third degree burns, threw the boy out the window and followed afterwards, she was severely burnt, the neighbors quickly rushed them to the hospital. The little girl did not get harmed in the fire, the little boy sustained burns to 50% of his body, our mother sustained burns to more than 89% of her body... Results in her losing her life the following day on the 28th of August 2020. The boy was in the ICU (intensive care Unit) for ten days. We have lost our beloved mother Thembekile Princess Maseko, our little brother is still in hospital, our home is no longer a home it's also burnt. We kindly ask for any assistance in helping rebuild our home, help fund my Little siblings education.
