I have a good friend called Marie who has volunteered in our local community for years and works in the community part-time. She was so 'chuffed' to gain this position after bringing up her family and returning to work. Little did she know that life was going to hand her a bitter hand. Her Housing Benefit had always been paid straight to her landlord of many years and she was unaware that this had been cut when she started work. Her landlord failed to advise her of this. She enjoyed her job very much, her children were happy at College and University and life was good. She offered to pay off the HB arrears over the following 6 months aswell as paying the deficit he was getting from Housng Benefit. Unfortunately this fell on deaf ears and she was made homeless two weeks ago. She is being supported by friends as much as possible but her pets have had to be rehomed and her family are all sofa-surfing. Her daughter it trying her best at University and her son is managing at College but how long can they continue? Marie and her family only need £750.00 to pay off half the arrears and then they can be allocated Emergency Housing (B & B) until they get back on their feet. Please, please help this lovely family. Perhaps you could spare £5 and make a real difference to someones life.
