A Home for Dominique and her Family

Dominique, my daughter, was involved in a motor cycle accident on 17 October 2015 at the age of 21, when her baby was only 2 months old.

She suffered numerous life threatening injuries, eg head injury, torn-off lower lip, broken neck, bilateral pelvis fracture, crushed left elbow, fractured right femur, fractured knees, drop foot and various other smaller injuries including nerve damage.

She was in ICU in a coma for months, in 3 different hospitals, including a rehab hospital for a year.

Her then boyfriend abandoned her and she did not have the chance to see her children grow for the past nearly 2 years. She lost everything.

A very long and difficult time passed since the accident and after many many operations and the verdict that she will not walk again, apart from permanent brain damage and losing the use of her left arm as well, she is due to come home within the next month, after nearly 2 years in hospital.

I stopped working after the accident as she was constantly predicted to die at any time for many weeks after the accident.

Whenever I started working again I had to take off a lot of time from work to be there for Dominique when operations were due and to help with rehabilitation, since very little proper rehabilitation was available. We also raised her baby and he is still with us. He is the most beautiful child possible.

This however, together with the fact that our uninsured car were stolen in January 2016 (It never rains, it pours!), wiped us out financially.

Most of Dominique's medical care was paid to date, though there are a lot of expenses concerning moon day to day care, transport, carers and more that we cannot provide.

We had to move to an accessible home to accommodate Dominique's needs. Up to now and with help, we were able to pay the R8 0000 rent per month, amongst other expenses.

We have though, reached the end of our finances. We are falling behind on rent and other things, but security, a place to stay, is the most important.

This fund raising therefore is solely to ask for help with being able to stay where we are, to give her some stability.

We would be so grateful for any help to get her and us on our feet again and for me to be there for my daughter and grandchildren.
