Campaign Story
Dear ALL
I am appealing for your support. My eldest daughter finished high school (Matric) end of 2020. I left my job mid-2019 to join my husband where he worked in Limpopo Province, South Africa, as he was offered a job which was suited for a married couple. However, this employment did not work out to well, causing us to resign in January 2020. Then the pandemic hit resulting in lockdown from March onwards, which in turn affected us even more severely as we could not secure any employment. It has, and still is a huge struggle for us as a family to survive from month to month. Thankfully, my husband managed to find alternate work which made us move to a different province, being KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, but at a halved salary. He is currently the sole family provider as I have still not managed to secure a job to date. The monthly amount he gets, although grateful, still leaves us extremely short in many ways, one being especially in putting money aside to send her off to college or university. Hence, my daughter had a gap year during 2021, spending the entire year at home. She has set her heart on completing a Stewardess package course through the Ocean Star Sailing Academy based in Cape Town – this course begins 1 February 2022 up until 18 March 2022, costing a total of R78 794.44 (approximately USD5000.00) inclusive of accommodation. This intense course covers every aspect ranging from deck handing, VHF radio usage, culinary, boat training/handling, survival and first aid, hospitality and catering to mention a few. Since we did the application submission in September 2021, we have really struggled to save anything to put towards this. We have exhausted our applications for bank loans as we are still currently repaying intermittently on these. I therefore am kindly asking for financial assistance, to help give my daughter a start in her next stage of life. I am extremely proud of her; she has turned into such an amazing young lady. This course is something she really wants to do, it will open so many doors for her, filled with adventure and learning – a benefit to her for her future endeavours. A parent only wants the best for their children so to sit and write this extremely difficult request it breaks my heart as my pride is taking a fall. We have not been able to establish any stable long term financial security due to all the circumstances and our financial restrictions. Any support given, whether big or small, will be extremely appreciated.
Thank you.
