A Heart for Nazie

My father-in-law, Nazie as his friends call him, has been battling with his heart ailment since 2007. He has undergone Angioplasty 8 years ago, but it didn't assure him that he won't get another heart attack. His medication sustained him for years but has weakened his immune system. He has tried other therapies, which helped him a lot, but the doctors are suggesting that he needs to lower his creatinine so that they can perform an open heart surgery. 2010, 60% of his heart is functioning. But as of today, only 19% of his heart is functioning. I was surprised that he was chatting with us with a heart rate of 45 (which is below the benchmark).

To give you a brief background, Nazie Besana is not just a father to my husband, or to me, but a father to everyone. He is a Math Professor in a local state college here in the Philippines. He used to be a campus missionary, and a church planter. There may have been a lot of struggles in his life, but it didn't stop him from loving God and being a foster father to other people. As a matter of fact, he has helped a lot of people actually. His generous spirit and joyful heart makes him one of the jolliest person I know. Even at this moment, he tries to crack a joke to the hospital staff or to anyone beside him at the hospital. I remembered that he even shared the gospel to one of the hospital staff when he was admitted.

Because of this, we are in dire need of your help. Any amount that we could raise here can help us lengthen our dear father's life. We know that he has been a blessing to other people and will continually be. And who knows, he may be back in the ministry or he can regain his strength back to share what he loves to do--the Gospel and Math.
