Hello everyone! I decided to start this fundraiser for my mother who has been suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.

Almost two months ago, we rushed Ma to the hospital because she had difficulty breathing and her body looks swollen all over including her face. It was found out that she had Pneumonia (High-Risk) and her lungs were filled with water. By that time she also had difficulty urinating and the doctors later diagnosed her with Chronic Kidney Disease.

Her doctors have been honest with us from the very beginning. On our second night at the hospital, they told us that Ma's condition was not very good and asked us if we would allow them to intubate her and transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Ma was conscious that time, so I asked the doctors to follow whatever Ma's decision was.

Ma refused to be intubated and be transferred to the ICU, so that night I signed the DNR papers for Ma. Since we refused to be transferred to the ICU, we settled in a room in front of the nurses' station for close monitoring. We stayed there for 23 days before we were finally discharged.

On the third or fourth day of our stay, her doctors diagnosed her with CKD and required us to undergo Hemodialysis. She undergone a minor surgery for the attachment of IJ catheter on her neck as per doctor's advice.

On the second week of our stay, her condition finally became better and the doctors told us that we could finally go home if her lab and x-ray results were okay. Unfortunately, her x-ray result was still not okay and her hemoglobin dropped to 5 which is really low. So the doctors ordered for blood transfusion, 5 units of blood for her.

Thankfully on the third week, her lab and x-ray results were all good and was discharged by the doctors.
There were two important things though that we have to do, she needs oxygen 24/7 while at home because her oxygen level drops if she's not on oxygen for more than 10 minutes (doctors said it was because of the trauma the water has caused to her respiratory system). We also have to go on Hemodialysis twice a week.

Our bill ballooned for our 25-day stay at the hospital, not to mention the money that we had spent for her medicines and laboratories. Thank God I have an HMO and she's my dependent, but it only has a limit of 150,000 pesos. Ma is also a senior citizen so the SC discount was really a big help. Still, we had to pay a lot of money before we could go home.

I am an only child and I can only do so much to meet all of my mother's medical needs. I have gotten help from our immediate family and friends to keep up with the medical expenses too. And as painful, and as helpless as it sounds, we could use a lot more financial assistance for my mother now.

I am reaching out because I honestly cannot afford to lose my mom. I just lost my father last year and I don't want the same thing to happen to my mom. I really don't know where else I could ask for aide so I am humbly asking you to help us.

I am thankful for whatever help you can give us and thank you for taking the time to read. May you all have a safe and healthy life ahead of you!
