Wang Wang was a cute and playful pup who loved to wag his tail and run around and play. Wang Wang's previous owner had to leave Singapore due to unforeseen circumstances (employee pass in Singapore got canceled), and we, his caretakers, promised to look after him until his owner returned.

Unfortunately, just a week later, Wang Wang fell ill. We rushed him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with the Parvo virus. Wang Wang was just one week away from his second vaccination appointment that would have protected him from the virus. His previous owner was contacted, but she was unable to help with the hospital fees due to financial difficulties.

We took on the responsibilities (because there was no way we could give up on a little life without trying our best) and refused to give up on Wang Wang. We do not want to have him euthanized without even trying first. We covered the cost of his medical care, and he was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit – Critical Care) on Day 1 as Wang Wang's condition continued to deteriorate. He had a high fever, lost consciousness, and his organs were failing.

Despite the grim prognosis, we didn't lose hope, and the doctor worked tirelessly to give him the best possible care. The doctor injected dog plasma to assist him in fighting off the virus and continued to monitor his progress closely.

Days turned into weeks, and Wang Wang's condition continued to improve. He tested negative for the Parvo virus on Day 10, but he developed a severe skin infection that required him to undergo surgery. We were determined to give him the best chance at recovery and continued to cover the mounting medical bills.

As of today, Wang Wang is on Day 11 of intensive care. He's showing signs of improvement, but there's still a long road ahead. We have already paid $12,000 in cash to the hospital, and there's an outstanding balance of $8,000. We are reaching the bottom of our bank balance, but we are committed to giving him the best possible care and are hoping to raise enough funds to cover his medical bills.

We ask for your support in helping us give Wang Wang the fighting chance he deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping us cover his medical expenses and give him the best possible care. Together, we can give Wang Wang a second chance at life, and we thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Timeline

  • Day 1: Admitted to hospital and confirmed with Parvo virus.
  • Day 2: High Fever of 40.6 degrees still has not reside and he has lost consciousness.
  • Day 3: Blood test result showed that white blood cell was way over the chart and organs has started to fail.
  • Day 4: Injected "Dog Plasma" to assist him in fighting off the virus.
  • Day 5: Blood pressure, oxygen, and white blood cell are still clinically bad
  • Day 6: Gut is barely working and it's at the brink of permanent failure
  • Day 7: Things seem to take a turn! All the results that came back seem to be moving towards the right direction.
  • Day 8: Things are getting even better! He's able to finally express his pain through whining and open his eyes to look at us, and started to consume food by himself after 8 days!
  • Day 9: Just when we felt the sense of relief, the doctor came with bad news. Parvo virus has caused a skin infection so bad that he had to go through a round of 2 hours surgery to remove the infected skin.
  • Day 10: Parvo virus negative! But he's going through another tough round to fight off the life threatening soft tissue infection, with the previous damage done by the Parvo virus, fighting it off without ICU assistance is off the topic.
  • Day 11: He's clinically "better," but we are barely making it with the bills incurred.

The estimated daily bills are expected to be around $1000, and the doctor foresees that he will need to remain in the ICU for the next 12 days or so. We are doing our best to raise as much as we can!

We can take in PayNow or Paypal too if that helps.

Wang Wang appears a bit lethargic today, possibly due to overexertion of his muscles the day before. However, overall, his condition seems favorable. His breathing shows intermittent improvement, and his wound has mostly healed. I will provide an update photo once it looks more presentable.

I visited the vet earlier than scheduled due to my concerns about Wang Wang's swollen paws. The mucus test results have arrived, indicating that he has been infected with MRSP (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus pseudointermedius), which is antibiotic-resistant. This has resulted in ongoing pneumonia, leading to his heavy breathing. I will capture
