A Fence for Kate and Teo

We are asking for funds to build a fence around our house and property in Sopot, Serbia to keep Kate and Teo safe from theft and animal attack in their new home. This summer we built a house in the countryside to provide more space and a better life for Kate, Teo, and their little HuBro.

Why do we need the fence? We originally thought the dogs could run free because the property is bounded piecemeal by sections of old fence, and because it’s a quiet neighborhood. One example is the hedge/fence you can see in the main image of this campaign. However as we’ve been spending more time there, we have had neighbors walk through our property, park their cars on our property “by accident,” and visits from numerous neighborhood dogs (one friendly, a half dozen aggressive). It’s clear we need a proper fence to keep Kate & Teo safe from attacks and from potentially being stolen.

What will it cost? The cost to put a proper fence with 1.6 meter high chain link and cement posts is $9.20 per meter. We need a total of 1200 meters of fence to completely enclose the property.

Why are you only asking $1100? We already put 95 meters of fence to separate us from the main road. We are asking only a fraction of the required amount to fix the most immediate problem — the barrier between us and a neighboring corn field which is currently just brush & bramble.

Who are you people and why isn’t this on GoFundMe? As our longtime followers know, we are Americans living in Serbia. Dr. Amy Mlinar (“Kate’s Mom”) is a planetary scientist and educator. Dr. Vladan Mlinar (“HuDad”) is an expert in nanotechnology and artificial intelligence. GoFundMe is not allowed to operate in Serbia and knows from our IP address that we are here.
