A Father's Heart

My father is Ruel Merca and he is no ordinary man. He is a 52-year old Pastor in Vineyard Church, Baguio Philippines. Almost all his life, his heart is just to serve God, the poor and lead people to Him. These people he reaches out to are also no ordinary because they all are special with their own life stories. Some, he meets at the park with no homes, some are hard-working street vendors, the others run races for a living, or employees whose earnings are too little, not even enough to meet all their needs. They all have captured my father’s heart. His heartbeat goes “People. People. People”. But this heart almost stopped beating a year ago.

On February 2017, he had a heart attack. He undergone tests and the result showed that plaque causes to have significant narrowing and blockages of the heart arteries.If not treated it can cause another heart attack or cardiac arrest. The treatment is to undergo an open heart surgery (CABG) and he has now been told that his heart is only working at 35% efficiency. The purpose for this surgery is to remove all blockages, improve the blood flow to the heart and mainly make his heart work back to its own full efficiency. It is a very expensive procedure here in our country. He will be needing Php800,000 (US$15,000) that covers professional fees, hospitalization for 8 days and medicines. His heart needs this urgently.

This is my father's heart. We know that amidst all these, God is near us. We are in complete trust and in full surrender to God because we believe that He is a good, good Father whose Heart is to direct my father to healing and victory.

Please help us make his heart beat again to the fullest. I am appealing and reaching out to kind and generous hearts to help fund his medical and surgery bills, and be with us in continuous prayer that all will go well. God is not finish with him yet as he is not finish with a lot more people he can serve and share God’s glory. God has so much to do with him.
