Corona protection aid for Mathare Valley
Situation in the slums of Mathare Valley
In the slums of Mathare Valley Kenya, it is practically impossible to implement the
simplest protective measures such as social distance, face mask, regular hand
washing and disinfecting.
Hundreds of the poorest families live together in a very small space. Up to 10 people
in steel houses of less than 10m2. One house is attached to the other.
Hundreds of the poorest families are cut off from any help. They have difficult or no
regular access to water, disinfectants, face masks and food.
What do we want to do?
We want to buy two cars for the Africachildhopefoundation in Mathare-Valley. Which
these vehicles, our volunteers have the opportunity to bring water, food, hygiene
items such as soap and disinfectants and protective masks to hundreds of the
poorest families on a daily basis.
Kenya has so far officially confirmed 5000 infected people. However, there is no
testing in the slums and the people there hardly know anything about COVID-19.
With two vehicles we can reach these people and educate and sensitize them about and the car can be providing free services to residents of mathare. Like. Mother who wants to deliver. Sick person or any emergency
COVID in order to contain the pandemic.
We also offer driving services, which in turn make the vehicles self-supporting.
Every day we bring these families a bit of hope and the much- needed survival aid. By
providing information and providing support, them to get free water. Food .soap free mask.. we can together contain the pandemic in mathare slum.
