My name is Janine. I’m 28 years old, a lucky wife and soon-to-be-mom of a little baby boy.
After high school I was not accepted at medical school. I therefore studied social science, got an ok-payed job and tried to accept my fate. However, in the back of my mind, I always knew I was meant to become a doctor.
As a compromise I started to work as paramedic in voluntary service on the weekends. This decision was right and wrong at the same time. Right, because I got to experience the incredible feeling of saving someone’s life. Wrong, because I started to want more. More responsibility, more knowledge, more capability of rescuing people.
Now, ten years later, I tried again and passed the entry exams for medical school. You cannot believe how happy I am.
It is all arranged: The University has a great program for students with children and my mother agreed to look after my baby on the long-hour-days.
The only problem about it: We bought a new house just a couple of months ago. And with me going back to University and not earning any money for the next five to six years (I won’t be able to job with my little boy), we will not be able to pay back the real-estate credit. Of course I do not want to punish my family by selling the house again and moving into a small apartment just because of my selfish dream.
On the other side: I REALLY WANT TO GO TO MEDICAL SCHOOL!!!
Therefore, and you can be sure that this cost me quite an effort to do so, I am asking anyone who can understand my feelings to support us. Thank you so much in advance!
