A Dollar Can Get You to Uganda!

(Not really) A dollar can't get you to Uganda - just your name! But a dollar can get me to Uganda! I'm Anabelle Basterrechea-Jones. I am currently in high school at Washington International School (http://www.wis.edu) in Washington, DC. In January, I applied and was accepted for AYLP Bold Leaders (http://boldleaders.com/projects.html) , a youth program that brings together teens from DC, Colorado, and Nebraska. Throughout the program (http://boldleaders.com/downloads/BoldLeadersAYLP_Uganda_Information.pdf?formkey=dEgyWHBmSllqckR2aE9uU19lUHBKQnc6MQ) we focus on food security in our own community and in countries like Uganda. Part of the program is to take a trip to Uganda for three weeks where we will stay with host families. The majority of all the program's costs are funded by the State Department, however, a requirement of the program is that each participant must fundraise $350.00. One of the most popular ways of fundraising is crowdfunding. I thought this would be a great way to share what I am working on with my community here. In addition, I will be creating an experience that I can bring with me and share in Uganda. A personal goal of my fundraising project is to stress the effectiveness of the $1.00 donation. Please, do not feel obligated to donate more than $1.00. Each person who donates to my project will be listed on a thank you card that I will give along with a gift to my host family.
