Siargao is a group of beautiful islands in the Philippines. It's an absolute paradise. Scenic views, beautiful mangroves, crystal clear water and blue lagoons, but is most known as the surfing capital of the Philippines, because of it's big barreling waves. This is why surfers and tourists alike flock to the island either in search for the perfect wave or just to enjoy the island vibe. The island landed on Surfer Magazine in the 1980s, naming it as one of the premier surfing destinations in the world. The island is mostly known for its waves and rich biodiversity, and it was named the best island in Asia by Condé Nast (CN) traveler in October 2018. However, due to the country’s lack of proper waste management and continuous use of plastic, Siargao faces environmental issues today. As the influx of people rises, locals are working heavily to keep their island and way of life as it is. Locals work with NGOs and LGUs to better the status of the environment and to prevent the island from closing for rehabilitation.

We are a team of students who are doing an environmental campaign and documentary, as our thesis, on the beauty of Siargao and exposing the rising pollution problem on the Island, and how this directly affects the livelihood of the locals. Our aim is to raise awareness and educate people, locals and tourists alike, on reducing their plastic consumption and use, and teach people to properly manage their waste.

We are raising funds to power our campaign and documentary to help the locals of Siargao tell their story and spread awareness to people about proper waste management and plastic reduction. Our team has about 8 months to raise funds for this project. As students, supporting us means we get to finish our thesis and graduate, but also by donating you are helping make a difference in a community and contributing in Siargao's betterment for years to come. This is our true aim.

Any contributions will be very much appreciated. We highly encourage you tell us your names, because we will honor the people who has donated in the credits of our documentary.
