Me and my wife are based out from the Philippines residing in the chaotic city of Metro Manila. My wife is a Paediatrician by profession (independent) and has been involved in understanding the screen exposure time of gadgets in children based out a city called Lipa, Philippines. She is keen to get into the field of "Development Paediatrics" which looks into the issues of development of sensorimotor and visual-motor skills within growing children.

Her research paper in the topic of "Daily Screen Time on Electronic Media Among Students in Selected Public and Private Pre-Schools in Lipa City: A Pilot Study" has been accepted for poster presentations at various medical symposiums within Philippines. She was elated to get an acceptance from International Developmental Pediatrics Association Congress to showcase the research paper at "Mumbai, India" and slated to take place between December 7-10th of 2017. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to connect with various people(including doctors and personal from NGO's) to understand the work done by them in the field of development issues within children. Two of these issues include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and autism which are very important in the development skills of a growing child.

We are planning to head for the conference during December to connect with various delegates and understand the challenges/ill-effects posed by the excess exposure of gadget screen time within growing kids. Growing use of tablets, cell phones and computers within growing kids have altered the emotional and physical behavior as compared to the good old days of 80's and 90's. Numerous researchers around the globe have been trying to find out the ill effects of exposure to gadgets within children and such studies are available in the public domain too.

Philippines is one of the few countries where the use of social media and gadgets are very high within growing kids. Our future studies can possibly help in understanding the ill effects caused by the excess use of gadgets. We, the adults of today look forward for a smarter generation of kids to keep the global economy moving forward and would like to graciously ask for any contribution in this effort of ours. The amount collected is for our travel expenses, accommodation and other misc expenses needed for attending the conference. Thank you very much and God Bless!

If you would like to have an abstract of the pilot study, please feel free to contact me or message in the comments section.

A poster presentation for the research paper was displayed at "Uniquely Different: Embracing Diversity Across the Lifespan" during September 2017 at Novotel Manila. The findings of the research paper was well received and we hope to make an impact during the international conference to be held at Mumbai this year.
