A Doctor’s Battle

Dr Jennyleen Salgado-Cruz is a practicing Pediatrician in Bulacan, a mother to two beautiful children. She is an alumni of San Beda College of Medicine.

In the early months of 2018, Dr Jennyleen started to experience frequent headaches which bothered her so much that she decided to have it worked up since they have a family history of cancer. Sad to say that the diagnostics done revealed that she was suffering from Glioblastoma, a high grade brain tumor in adults.

She underwent concurrent radiation and chemotherapy and was on a regular follow up with her Neurologist, Neurosurgeon and Oncologist.

However, she started to have recurrences of headache with increased sleeping time and bouts of vomiting in the last week of February 2021. Dr Jennyleen was admitted on March 1, 2021 and a follow up Cranial MRI revealed progression in the size of the mass (4.5 x 7.1 x 3.5 cm). Chemotherapy was resumed. She was discharged after 10 days of confinement.

Her oral chemo medication amounts to Php 429,885 monthly.
